Hope Flowers School (HFS) welcomes volunteers from all over the world! We invite you for a rewarding experience you will not forget by supporting children with disabilities and the greater Palestinian community.
HFS aims to provide a meaningful and stimulating experience for each and every volunteer who dedicates his or her time. We provide a flexible experience to accommodate the volunteer’s skills and schedule.
Volunteering Opportunities at HFS
HFS provides various volunteering opportunities for volunteers:
Education: Teaching English as a foreign language; Developing tools and resources for teaching English as foreign language
Special Education: Providing care and support for children with disabilities, including one-on-one work with children, teachers inside classrooms, in therapy rooms and playgrounds and in Animal Assisted therapy (to begin soon).
Promotional Activities (media and communication): Raising awareness about HFS in the volunteer’s respective communities; Promoting HFS internationally and the situation facing children with disabilities in Palestine.
Resource Development: HFS relies largely on donations to operate our programs.
Volunteers can help prepare written materials, monitor programs for donors and help research new potential donors.
Daily Operational Activities: Caring for the educational environment at the school, including the garden, farm, animals, classrooms and playgrounds.
Maintenance: Small repairs of school facilities and educational resources like painting classrooms, repairing broken furniture, etc.
Farming and Animal Husbandry: HFS has a mini-farm and greenhouse for education and income-generating purposes.
Volunteers can help care for these facilities, including the animals, and accompany the school’s children during visits to the farm.
Accommodation
Volunteers may stay in HFS’ three-bedroom apartment with dining room, kitchen, toilet and shower.
The apartment has a magnificent view on the Solomons pools and the historic village of Irtas and the beautiful valleys in the area.
Volunteers will share dormitory, kitchen, bathroom and toilet.
Supermarkets, grocery stores, bank, pharmacy are a 15 minutes’ walk from the school.

HFS gives preference to candidates with the following profile: Age 25 and over * Enthusiastic and dynamic personality * Independent and eager to take initiative.

Interview
Once HFS receives your CV and letter of motivation, HFS’ Volunteer Coordinator will evaluate the application and will contact the applicant.
The Coordinator may set an online interview with volunteer.
The interview may involve another person from HFS staff and or members of Friends of HFS associations in Europe and USA.
Orientation period
Upon arrival to HFS, the Volunteer Coordinator will lead the volunteers through an intensive orientation program.
This program will cover HFS’ background, facilities, daily operation and work as well as an introduction to the area, including the transportation system, market and where to get necessary daily life needs.
The Coordinator will help build a detailed volunteering schedule for each volunteer.
A mentor will be appointed for each volunteer during his/her volunteer period.

You are doing good for others and the community, which provides a natural sense of accomplishment.
